Another sad thing about it is that his son didn't even like his father. He didn't like Vasudeva either. I guess that he got so fed up with it and realizd he wasn't going back to the rich life, well at least not with Siddhartha. With that being said he ran away and before leaving stole all of Siddhartha's and Vasudeva's money.
