Sick hearted, he wandered until he found a river. He once had a suicidal thought of drowning himself. Instead he fell asleep on the riverbank. While he is alseep Govinda passes by. Not recognizing Siddhartha he watched him and protected him form snakes until he woke up. When Siddhartha did wake up he immediately recognized Govinda. Govinda talked about how much Siddhartha had changed making Siddhartha want to be someone new.
